Fifty thousand!
SQL Buddy recently hit the milestone of 50,000 downloads. Thanks to everyone that has given SQL Buddy a chance or sent a donation my way. The project has been stagnant lately, but I haven’t completely forgot about it. You should expect around 1 release per year at this point.
A note on the numbers: 50,000 is the sum of the downloads for all version numbers. The latest release (1.3.2) has had close to 15,000 downloads so far.
Edit: I just realized how eerie it is that I posted about hitting 20,000 downloads almost exactly one year ago (one day off). 30,00 is not bad for a year.

I really like it, and use it all the time. Sure it lacks features over PhpMyAdmin, but I make up for them by manually writing queries and i like to keep it this way. One thing bothers me thought, there are some bugs that crept up in some situations, namely complex queries with GROUP_CONCAT(). Refreshing is also not as convenient as I would like it to be, for example if I create a new table manually (using a query), I wont see it in the left pane.
I still use it though.
Great work
Thumbs up

Great work! I was trying to install phpmyadmin for the umteenth time today (and, as always, got angry with the configuration and the horrible user interface), then I found SQL Buddy. Pure bliss! Keep on the great work (and expect donations coming your way)! Mathias

Hi again!
Great software, I never get bored of the look, the simplicity of the interface and how responsive it is
Now get to work on the bugs! Otherwise someone else will!!
Another bug I found: It throws a PHP error (or warning or something) when viewing a mySql view. It should be handling a view differently!!
So anyway if you’re too busy, I hope I could find time to fix these… hopefully

Found a Bug
there are parentheses missing when you change a field to be enum or set
Feature Request
Inline inserting / editing like Querious’
code highlighting in query tab (i actually successfully hacked Codepress in, so if you’re interested in my code…)

It would be nice if the codebase was PHP strict. However, it seems that many files still suffer from E_NOTICE errors from unset variables such as the $sql variable in ajaxquery.php. Please make sure that you initialize all values before using them.
Anyway, nice work. I was having trouble with phpMyAdmin chocking on APC when I found this project. Much cleaner work than Adminer or phpminiAdmin.

An undeniably pretty start at something to rival phpMyAdmin. However, without active development it’s not going to go anywhere.
phpMyAdmin is unbelieveably ugly, but if you use the Paradice theme, it’s transformed.
for very small uncomplicated databases, SQLBuddy will suit most people, but once you get into more in-depth stuff like relationships, views, triggers, and stored procedures etc. phpMyAdmin is the way to go.

Unless you need the SQL manager to be online and/or accessible from a browser, I recommend a software called SQLyog – there’s a free community version even (although takes some digging through their site to find it).
My SQL Buddy seems to be stuck on the loading screen.

Do you realize that I found the SQL buddy through wamp installation? I did not download the file from this respository. It came with wamp server installation bundle. So I think 50K is an understatement.

Congratulations. I discovered this tool yesterday in the WampServer pack and I was surprised. I like it more than phpMyAdmin for the simplicity of use. Keep it up please.

I love this. The only thing I wish is that when browsing a database, that the column width’s were not all equal width, but automatically fit to the data like in Phpmyadmin. So for instance, the id column isn’t the same width as all the others, but just as wide as it needs to be the show the data being displayed currently. It’d make it easier to glance over the data. But still, great work on this!

You made some good points there. I did a Google search about the topic and found most people will believe your blog.
